About Your Eye Examination

A routine vision examination in our office requires a total of approximately 30 minutes. This period of time is needed to perform all the tests necessary to thoroughly asses your eyes and visual efficiency.

During the examination a digital photograph is taken with a retinal camera.

Tests related to the following are are all part of a complete examination:

• Eye health
• General physical health
• Clarity of vision (Myopia, Hyperopia, Astigmatism)
• Macular Degeneration
• Colour vision
• Focusing ability (Presbyopia)
• Eye muscle control
• Amblyopia (lazy eye)
• Glaucoma
• Computerised Visual Field Test
• Cataract
and other appropriate areas for each individual.

Following the examination, we will carefully explain the results of your testing and discuss our recommendations regarding any needed preventive or remedial care.

Family Eye Testing

It is important for adults to have regular eye examinations so that visual problems can be corrected and that eye health be maintained.

Children also need regular eye examinations. Problems may impact on learning and children may not be aware that vision is the cause. It is recommended that children be examined before they are 3 years old and again before they start school. A two yearly eye test is recommended as vision may change rapidly throughout their growth years.

About Specs has a number of eye tests suited for young children. Children may play in the Kid's corner while other members of the family are tested.
